How to Add Mods and Plugins to Your Hytale Server
We continually strive to improve our knowledge base so that our customers have access to the most relevant and up-to-date information. We highly value your suggestions and feedback — if you feel something should be added or corrected, please let us know on our Discord server.

Unlike Minecraft, Hytale takes a server-side first approach to modding. All mods and plugins are loaded by the server host, which means players can join any modded Hytale server without downloading external mods or juggling client-side packs. As the server owner, you’re free to combine plugins, mods, and asset packs to customize the gameplay experience however you’d like — without adding extra steps for your players.
Stop your server before adding, removing, or editing mods and plugins. Apply your changes first, then start the server again so they load cleanly.
Installing Mods and Plugins
- Browse the official CurseForge Hytale page to find a mod or plugin you’d like to install.
- Once you’ve found one, click the down-arrow next to
Install via Appand choose the option to download the.jarfile.
To download an older version, click View All Files, find the version you want, click the three dots next to it, and select Download file.
- Open your server panel. NexLink Core customers can log in at panel.nexlinkcore.com, select their Hytale server, and open the
Filestab. - Inside your server files, navigate to the
/modsfolder and drag-and-drop your downloaded.jarfile(s) into it. - Once all of your mods and plugins have been uploaded, start your server to load them.
Configuring Mods and Plugins
Not every mod or plugin is configurable. Whether the steps below apply depends on the specific mod or plugin you’ve installed.
Stop your server before editing any mod or plugin configuration files, then start it again to apply your changes.
- Open your server panel and go to the
Filestab. NexLink Core customers can log in at panel.nexlinkcore.com, select their Hytale server, and open theFilestab. - Navigate into the
/modsfolder. - Locate the folder for the mod or plugin you want to configure.
- Inside that folder you’ll find the mod’s configuration file, along with any other folders or files the mod ships with.
For details on which settings are available and what they do, refer to the documentation provided by the mod or plugin author.
